The Lofi Story
About the Maker:
Lofi Woodworks is just me, Daniel, a one‑man shop in Long Beach, California, where sawdust, music, and storytelling all meet in the same space.

I started this little workshop because I love making things that feel personal, imperfect in the best way, and full of soul. Every piece I build carries a bit of where I come from: the raw honesty of punk music, the calm of nature, the joy of a good beer with friends, and the kind of community that forms around handmade things.
I design and build furniture, home goods, gifts, and custom pieces that are simple, functional, and unapologetically unique. I’m drawn to real materials — domestic hardwoods, reclaimed lumber, old wine barrels, salvaged furniture, and scraps that still have a story left in them. I don’t hide the knots, grain, or history. I let them shine. Those details are what make a piece feel alive.
Whenever possible, I work with reclaimed wood or sustainably sourced hardwoods from trusted mills across the U.S. I use natural oils and low‑VOC finishes because I want the things I make to feel good in your home, not just look good. Sustainability isn’t a marketing line for me; it’s part of the responsibility of being a maker.
Every item you see here is built by hand, designed, shaped, sanded, and finished by me. No big shop. No mass production. Just slow, intentional craftsmanship. Whether I’m building a custom dining table, a one‑off Bluetooth speaker, a wine caddy with a story, or a small batch of cocktail smokers, I want each piece to feel like something you’ll keep for years.
I also love collaborating on custom woodworking projects. If you’re dreaming up a piece of furniture, a personalized gift, or a custom version of something I already make, I’m always happy to talk through ideas. Every project starts with a conversation and ends with something that feels truly yours.
Thanks for supporting handmade. Thanks for supporting small. And thanks for letting me share a little bit of my craft and my story with you.
Lofi Woodworks is proudly USA made with USA materials.
At Lofi Woodworks I use a few different types of woods in my handcrafted items.
New Wood is wood I purchased from lumber dealers and saw mills. For this, I only use responsibly harvested domestic wood grown and processed in the United States.
Reclaimed / Repurposed Wood is wood that already lived a life as something else. This could be wine barrels or cigar boxes, wood from demolished buildings or broken fences, discarded or broken furniture, and for some pieces I reuse hardware salvaged and/or antique hardware. I don't fix and refinish old furniture, I re-mill the wood into usable lumber and use it for entirely new items.
Scrap Wood is wood left over from making things. Everything has a waist side to it and woodworking is no different. Instead of throwing it away I use it to make many of my smaller gift items and art pieces. I also collect scrap wood from other makers and even customers.
Fallen Trees / Client Supplied Wood this is my favorite type of wood which are used mostly for custom items. Trees die eventually or are unexpectedly taken down by storms or fires. I like to give them new life especially if it was a cherished tree with a lifetime of family memories. Sometimes, clients have wood they want me to use to make something different and unique for them. Maybe wood from your barn, or a door from an your childhood home, or furniture you don't have a use for but really liked, or maybe you just have a really nice piece of wood and you don't know what to do with it?
Imported / Exotic Wood is generally difficult to verify sustainable practices and/or has a large carbon footprint. I generally do not use this type of wood unless it is reclaimed from things already in the US and that would have gone to a landfill.
